Pickleball in Cullman, Alabama

Cullman's main pickleball campus sits beside the Donald E. Green Sr. Center and Margaret Ingle Park, where eight free outdoor courts include four covered courts for rain and summer shade. The city also runs instruction and hosts charity competition at the same complex.

The park has four free dedicated outdoor concrete courts with permanent lines, nets, and lights. Restrooms, drinking water, wheelchair access, and parking are available beside the courts. These uncovered courts are the established center of everyday pickup play.

Donald E. Green Sr. Center Pickleball Courts

Four regulation-size covered courts sit next to the active-adult center, immediately beside Ingle Park. The roof provides dependable play through rain and strong Alabama sun, while six-foot fencing separates the courts and an adjacent pavilion adds shaded seating. Facility hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, and court use is free. The center also has an indoor court used for recreation programming.

Cullman Wellness & Aquatic Center

The nearby wellness center has indoor basketball gyms used for recreation programming and sells day passes at the front desk. Guest-service hours are Monday through Friday 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Call 256-775-7946 for an indoor pickleball block and the current day-pass rate.

Pickleball Lessons in Cullman

Cullman Parks and Recreation runs a four-week Skills and Drills course with separate beginner and advanced sessions. The program has met on Thursday evenings and covers technique, placement, and game strategy at the Ingle Park complex. Registration goes through Cullman Parks online registration; the department's program desk is 256-734-9157. Private students can also search the Coaches section.

Open Play and Tournaments

Ingle Park's eight-court cluster draws the city's regular social games, with the covered side especially active during hot or wet weather. The Donald E. Green courts also host the Cullman Kiwanis Pickleball Tournament. The 2025 event was a 16-team, double-elimination charity doubles tournament with mixed or same-gender teams, $70 advance team entry, and play beginning at 9:00 a.m.

What Visiting Players Should Know

Use 1625 Cleveland Avenue SW for the covered courts and 1639 Field of Miracles Drive SW for the original lighted courts; both addresses lead into the same recreation district with free parking. Permanent nets eliminate the need to carry one. Morning or late-afternoon play is most comfortable on the uncovered courts, while the covered four are the better midday choice. The wellness center, Heritage Park, WildWater, lodging, and dining all sit within or beside the same OmniSports District.
